The Lion Cub Who Found Courage

Once upon a time, there was a young lion cub named Leo. He lived with his family on the great savanna.

Leo was kind, curious, and loved playing with his friends. But he had one small problem: he often lacked courage.

Whenever it was time to try something new, he would say,

“Maybe tomorrow…”

One morning, the animals of the savanna learned that a big contest would take place near the old baobab tree.

Each participant had to cross a small wooden bridge over a stream.

Leo’s friends were very excited.

“We’re going to take part!” exclaimed the gazelle.

“Me too!” said the monkey.

Leo wanted to join them, but he was afraid of the bridge.

The day of the contest arrived.

One by one, the animals crossed the bridge.

When it was Leo’s turn, he looked at the water flowing beneath his paws.

His heart was beating very fast.

“I can’t do it,” he whispered.

Just then, he heard his mother’s voice.

“Courage doesn’t mean never being afraid. Courage means moving forward even when you’re a little scared.”

Leo thought for a moment.

He took a deep breath.

Then he placed one paw on the bridge.

Then another.

Then a third.

Step by step, he moved forward.

The bridge wobbled a little, but Leo kept going.

His friends cheered for him from the other side.

“You can do it!”

At last, he reached the end of the bridge.

All the animals applauded.

Leo felt very proud.

He hadn’t been the fastest or the strongest.

But he had overcome his fear.

The wise old owl, who had been watching the contest, presented him with a small medal.

“This award is for your courage,” she said.

Leo smiled.

That day, he learned that courage grows every time we dare to try.

From then on, whenever a new adventure came his way, he remembered that moment on the bridge.

And even if he still felt a little afraid sometimes, he always moved forward with confidence.

Because he now knew that courage can be found in every small step we dare to take.
