The Hedgehog Who Was Afraid of the Night

Once upon a time, there was a little hedgehog named Hugo. He lived in a peaceful forest beneath a large oak tree.

During the day, Hugo loved playing with his friends. He ran among the flowers, searched for berries, and laughed with the squirrels.

But when the sun began to set, Hugo became worried.

“I don’t like the night,” he would say. “It is dark and mysterious.”

Every evening, he hurried back to his nest of leaves and hid under his blanket.

One evening, while the moon was shining in the sky, his mother asked him:

“Why are you so afraid of the night?”

“Because I can’t see very well what is around me,” Hugo replied.

His mother smiled gently.

“Sometimes, what we do not know seems frightening. Would you like to discover the forest with me tonight?”

Hugo hesitated for a moment, then agreed.

They went outside together. At first, Hugo stayed very close to his mother.

Little by little, he began to notice beautiful things.

The moon lit the trees with a silvery glow.

Fireflies danced like tiny stars.

An owl perched on a branch sang softly.

Near a stream, frogs were putting on a funny concert.

“How beautiful it is!” exclaimed Hugo.

They continued their walk.

Suddenly, Hugo spotted a little rabbit who seemed lost.

“I can’t find my burrow anymore,” said the rabbit, trembling.

Hugo thought for a moment.

“I’ll help you.”

With the help of the fireflies’ light, they searched for the way together. At last, they found the burrow.

“Thank you so much!” said the rabbit with a big smile.

Hugo felt proud.

As he returned home, he looked up at the sky filled with stars.

“The night isn’t so scary after all,” he said.

His mother replied:

“It simply hides wonders that are different from those of the day.”

From that evening on, Hugo was no longer afraid of the night. He loved watching the stars, listening to the sounds of the forest, and admiring the fireflies that illuminated the darkness.

And every night became a new adventure for him.
