Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Noisette. He lived in a large oak tree on the edge of a peaceful forest.
Noisette loved gathering hazelnuts for the winter. Every day, he happily scampered from branch to branch with endless energy.
One morning, while searching for food, he noticed something shining at the foot of a tree.
“Oh! What’s that?” he wondered.
He walked closer and discovered a beautiful golden hazelnut.
It sparkled in the sunlight like a tiny treasure.
“What a wonderful find!” exclaimed Noisette.
He carefully picked up the hazelnut and placed it in his basket.
On his way home, he met his friend, the chickadee.
“What a beautiful hazelnut!” said the little bird.
“I think it’s a magical hazelnut,” Noisette replied proudly.
All day long, he showed his treasure to the animals of the forest.
But the more he looked at the golden hazelnut, the more he feared losing it.
He kept hiding it, then returning to make sure it was still there.
By evening, he was so busy guarding his treasure that he even forgot to play with his friends.
The next day, a strong gust of wind swept through the forest.
When Noisette returned to his hiding place, the golden hazelnut was gone.
“Oh no! My treasure!” he cried.
Very sad, he searched everywhere.
His friends decided to help him.
The chickadee searched from the sky.
The rabbit looked through the bushes.
The hedgehog searched among the roots.
At last, they found the hazelnut beside a little stream.
“There it is!” shouted the rabbit.
Noisette was overjoyed.
Then he looked at his friends and thought for a moment.
“While I was protecting this hazelnut, I forgot what truly matters.”
“What is that?” asked the hedgehog.
“Spending time with my friends.”
The animals smiled.
Noisette decided to share his treasure with them. Together, they admired the golden hazelnut in the light of the setting sun.
And that day, Noisette learned that friendship is worth far more than all the treasures in the world.
